Plans and Projects

Here are some of the plans and projects I’ve been thinking about lately.

One of my first goals is to replace my current router. Right now, I’m using a standard-issue Spectrum router, but my goal is to upgrade and organize my home network into logical segments. I want to create separate networks for home automation, a test environment, guest access, and the main household devices.

Another important goal is to set up a VPN server. This would allow all my internet traffic to remain secure, whether I’m home or away. I also want to invest in a NAS so I can access my files and media remotely. Once I’m comfortable with NAS features and capabilities, I could even start helping friends by setting up their networks and storage solutions too.

In addition to the networking projects, I plan to create a personal website to link with this blog. The website will showcase my journey, projects, and photos—essentially a more advanced version of this blog. Down the line, I might even design some business cards.

Since I currently drive for Uber, having business cards could be useful. If I pick up someone in the tech field, and once I’ve gained enough knowledge and certifications, I could start networking by sharing my contact info.

That’s what I’ve got mapped out for now, but I’m sure more ideas will come to me. I’ll share them as they do.
